Your privacy is paramount at Threshold. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Threshold mobile application ("the App"). Threshold is a weather decision-support tool designed for event planning and operational decision-making.
We are committed to transparency, data minimization, and giving you full control over your information.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
We collect the following information when you use the App:
- Email Address Used for account creation and authentication.
- User-Generated Content User-Generated Content (Events, Locations, Thresholds) is stored locally on your device. We do not transmit or store this operational data on our servers.
2.2 Location Data
- Threshold does NOT collect, request, or access real-time GPS location data.
- The App does not use device location services.
- All locations are entered manually by the user (e.g., typing a city name).
- These locations are used solely to retrieve weather or climatological information relevant to your events.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected only to operate and improve the App, including to:
- Authenticate your account.
- Store and manage your events and thresholds.
- Retrieve weather forecasts or climatological averages for locations you manually specify.
- Determine Go / Risk / No-Go status for your events based on your defined limits.
- Process and manage subscriptions.
We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising or tracking purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
Threshold relies on trusted third-party service providers to function properly. These providers only receive data necessary to perform their specific services.
- Google Firebase Used for user authentication and cross-platform account synchronization. Account identifiers are stored securely, while personal event data remains on your local device.
- RevenueCat Used to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. Payments are processed via Apple's App Store (Apple Pay). Threshold does not store your payment details.
- Apple WeatherKit Used to fetch weather forecast data and observed weather (observed weather is for past events) for user-specified locations.
- Visual Crossing Used to retrieve climatological or historical average weather data for dates outside current 10-day forecast ranges.
Each provider processes data in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable data protection laws.
5. Data Retention & Deletion (Your Rights)
You are always in control of your data.
You may delete your account at any time directly within the App's Settings section.
When you delete your account:
- Your email address
- All events
- All locations
- All thresholds
are permanently erased from your device. Because event data is stored locally, uninstalling the App will also permanently delete this data.
This action is irreversible and complies with applicable data protection regulations, including GDPR.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including secure authentication, encrypted connections, and restricted access to data.
